PE

application:

food packaging
Chemical Equipment
Wires and cables
building materials
Daily necessities

Polyethylene (PE) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymerized from ethylene monomer. It has many excellent features, including:

**Corrosion Resistance: **PE has good resistance to a wide range of chemicals, such as acids, bases and salts. Therefore, PE can be used to make products that require chemical resistance, such as food containers and chemical equipment.
**Insulation:**PE is a non-conductive material, which makes it ideal for products that require insulation, such as wires and cables.
**Easy to Process:**PE is easily processed into a variety of shapes and sizes. Therefore, PE can be used to make products that require mass production.
**Non-toxic: **PE is non-toxic in solid form, so it is also commonly used for food packaging.

Disadvantages of PE include:

**Low heat resistance: **The melting point of PE is 100-130℃ and can reach 80-90℃ under continuous use temperature. Therefore, PE is not suitable for making products that require high temperature resistance.
**Low Impact Resistance: **PE is not as impact strong as some other plastics, such as PP. Therefore, PE is not suitable for making products that require impact resistance.

PE is used in a wide variety of products including:

food packaging
Chemical Equipment
Wires and cables
building materials
Daily necessities

PE is a versatile plastic with many excellent properties. It is an ideal material for many products.

The following are the different types of PE and their characteristics:

**High Density Polyethylene (HDPE): **HDPE has high strength, high hardness and good chemical resistance. It is commonly used to make food containers, chemical equipment and construction materials.
**Low density polyethylene (LDPE): **LDPE has good flexibility, wear resistance and low temperature resistance. It is commonly used to make plastic bags, food packaging and hoses.
**Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE): **LLDPE has high strength, high stiffness and good wear resistance. It is commonly used to make plastic films, plastic wrap and automobile parts.
**Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE): **UHMWPE has extremely high strength, toughness and wear resistance. It is often used to make protective clothing, machine parts and medical devices.
